Shabbat & Jewish Holidays
Shabbat
Join Us for Shabbat
Throughout the academic year, Santa Barbara Hillel hosts Shabbat celebrations on Friday evenings. Each gathering begins with student-led services, followed by Kiddush and a complimentary Shabbat dinner.
Shabbat dinner is a big social gathering where students and community members can relax, connect with friends, meet new people, and schmooze over a delicious Shabbat meal in a warm and welcoming community.

Jewish Holidays
Santa Barbara Hillel loves celebrating Jewish holidays!
We kick off the academic year with High Holiday services and continue celebrating throughout the year. Students and staff work together to plan meaningful and fun holiday experiences, from sleepovers in our sukkah to traditional Passover seders. We light Chanukah candles, dress in silly costumes for Purim, and celebrate in blue and white on Israeli Independence Day (Yom Ha'atzmaut).
No matter your religious background or current participation in religious life, Santa Barbara Hillel's celebrations have a space for you.
